Corset Making Project
THEA 425, 426 - COSTUME LAB
1st Semester Practicum- Skills notebook (hand and power sewing machine), apprentice show crew, learn organization of dressing room, fast changes, delegation of authority and responsibilities, sew an item for costume stock (i.e., petticoat, bloomers, corset, etc) from a pattern.

PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE
2nd Semester - Production Crew Head, pull costume stock, prepare checkout sheets, supervise show crew, laundry and cleaning, assist return of costumes to stock and to loans) - textiles notebook, copy a period garment for stock.(Prepare the pattern from an existing item.)

3rd Semester - Assist designer, production meetings, assist on swatching, buying trips, fitting notes, supervise alterations, assist in pulling of outside loans/rentals, create a muslin from measurements and a stock garment from text.(possibly design Short Play Festival or LACC student one-act. |

THEA 400 - Costume History, Periods and Styles
A survey of the history of costume styles and their relationship with historical and social developments.

THEA 416 - Exotic Costume Materials
Practical study of non-textile materials (latex, leather, plastics, hair & wigs, millinery, paper mache, jewelry) and non-sewing methods (mold-making, gluing, soldering, vacuform.) Safety and correct procedures for handling potentially hazardous materials emphasized. |
THEA 417 - Costuming for Film
Preparing for film costuming; film script breakdowns, design conferences, resourcing.

THEA 418 - Communicating Theatrical Design
A class in basic techniques for scenic, lighting, and costume designers to graphically express their designs. |

THEA 450 - Beginning Stage Makeup
A basic course in theatrical makeup techniques for the actor, the costume/makeup designer and the scenic designer. Includes two- and three- dimensional techniques, beards, nose construction, clowns and stylized makeups. |
